Non-Immigrant ED
A Non-immigrant ED visa will allow you to study in Thailand. If you want to obtain your education in Thailand, you will need a Non-immigrant ED (Education) visa. Before you can get a visa, you must get accepted at the school in Thailand and receive an admission or acceptance letter. Then, you will be ready to apply.
These are two options for applying for an education visa.
1. If you are already in Thailand on another visa, you can visit the immigration department in Thailand and apply to have your visa convert by filling in the TM86 form. The cost for conversion is below.
2. If you are not yet in Thailand, you can apply from home at the Royal Thai Consulate by completing the TM87 application. The amount you pay depends on the Royal Thai Consulate you visit.
Regardless of how you apply, your visa will be valid for 90 days. You can apply for an extension at the end of the 90 days, so you can finish your schooling.
Non-Immigrant Guardian Visa
A Non-immigrant Guardian visa will allow you to extend your stay in Thailand if you have a child attending a Thai school.
Foreigners with a child attendin a Thai school and in possession of an ED extension can apply for a guardian extension. Only one of the parents can apply for the guardian extension.
